-Subzero- A Sled Dog Roleplay

Hi, it's Starnight, back with another dog roleplay! This time, it's a sled dog roleplay, pretty much the opposite of the stray dog roleplay.

The wilderness; vast, unforgiving, and below freezing. Snow is everywhere, and one of the best ways for man to transport here is by dogsledding. This roleplay takes place in the Yukon, in the year of 1897. But life isn't easy for neither humans nor dogs. Team 1 consists of an assortment of dogs bought by people on the whim who need dogs for the sled team and are on their way to the Klondike to get rich. These dogs are constantly fighting and stealing each other's food and live by the law of club and fang. However, the dogs from Team 2 have either been raised together or were carefully trained to leave in peace with each other. They work as the mailing/trading system. This team is loyal to each other and to their owners. Temperates are frigid during the night. Whichever team you are part of, life in the Arctic is a struggle to survive.

Like the stray dog rp, this roleplay is highly realistic and semi-literate. Dog sled Team 1 is inspired by Jack London's book, "The Call of the Wild". Team 2 is inspired by the movie, "Eight Below". In case you didn't read or watch either of these, I will provide an overview of how to act in rp (for example, I will explain the law of club and fang, which only Team 1 follows). Also, if you can't decide which team to be in, you can create 2 characters.

Law of Club: Fear and respect humans, or be beaten with a club.

Law of Fang: Only the strongest survive. If you are knocked off your feet during battle by another dog, you'll be killed.


Team 1

Leader: This dog is respected and feared. He/she bullies the other dogs and keeps them in line. He/she also leads in the front when sledding. Every dog wishes to be and challenges the leader.

Wheeler: These dogs are important. They pull near the back of the sled. They are the strongest and most experienced sled dogs. (only two wheelers)



Subordinates: These dogs make up the bulk of the team. They are in the middle or near the front when sledding.

Omegas: These are usually the newbies that aren't used to sled dog life, or weak dogs that are too good-natured. They are often bullied.



Team 2

Leader: This dog is respected, admired, and loved. He/she is in the very front when sledding, and is the main decision maker besides the owner.

Yuki padded into the clearing. "Your up early. Usually, I'm the first."she said as she walked towards her. Seeing the ruckus, she turned to of and turned back.

Snowflake smiled as she saw Yuki. She couldn't wait until all of the dogs were awake. Then, they could start sledding. The Alaskan Husky shivered as a forceful gale vengefully swept through the large camp, blowing supplies everywhere. Snowflake sighed and watched as the humans rushed to retrieve their lost items. Usually she was patient, but the call of the toil was driving her to impatience.

Team 2
Jakson jumped onto Snowflakes back. "Caught you." he barked happy. The male husky hopped off his team mate with a huge grin on his face. "Mornin' Yuki." he said with a saulte. He saw part of a tent blow past him and he pounced landing on it. Carefully grabbing it he pulled it over to the humans.

Team 1
Scara paced her cage. Dogs came past and snarled at the red husky female but she paid them not attention. Until one of them tried to get her through the bars. With a quick twirl and snap of jaws the male sibarrian husky scrambled back with a bleeding nose. Her red huckles rose as she snraled showing her blood stained teeth.

Yuki nodded a greeting. "Good morning."she said. Her fur was thick so it didn't get to her. She helped pounce on tents and other things, even a chair. "Very windy."she said. Yuki looked to Jakson with her pink eyes and then to Snowflake.

Yuki was hooked onto the sled as well as the other two. "We may have to wait a bit but that's OK, right?"she looked to her team.

"Don't worry. We have to wait for the competition as well."she said. "And it doesn't seem to look like their ready yet."she said.

Team 2
Jakson sighed and bounded around the humans. They laughed at him and grabbed his harness. Putting it on him quickly his tail wagged into a blur. His eyes shone with excitment for running as a wheeler.

Team 1
Scara watched as a man gave money to the dealer. Her cage door opened and she stepped out. A few dogs came near and her red huckles rose as she snarled at them before rubbing against her new owner and lowering her ears and atil to show that he was boss. She followed him over to the sled and a harness was put on her. "Names Scara." the red sibaian husky said to White Fang. She kept her tail down but her ears pricked showing she wouldnt fight him as he was leader. The man harnassed her up to the right behind the male and she kept glancing around at the other dogs warning them away with snarls and quick snaps of her jaws.

Team 1
Scara snarled at the new female. She glared at her with cold brown eyes. Her fur bristled as she was placed behind her. Twisting her head to glare she bared her blood stained fangs. She silently warned the feamle off her tail or she would be dead. Turning back to the front she studied White Fang. She huffed slightly regreating that she wasnt in heat cause he would make a good male to breed with.

Team 2
Jakson danced as he was hooked up to the sled. It made it shift and earned him a quick calm from the humans. He let out a soft whine as he sat down in the snow. One of them gave him a quick scratch behind the ears and his tail wagged agaist the snow.

Yuki looked to the master. "Ready?"she asked her team. As soon as the master got on. Yuki already started running at full throttle. Easily overtaking the other team.

Team One: White Fang

White Fang slowed down as well, to a steady trot, and watched the other team go straight past them. Usually, the Master wouldn't like such a slow pace (he was in a rush to get the gold in the Klondike), but the trail was getting rockier, so he encouraged it this time. Fang took in the sights and sounds of the wilderness as he pulled the sled with easy strides.


Team Two: Snowflake

Snowflake quickly and eagerly got up to the same pace as Yuki. Wind rushed past her ears and ruffled her fur as she ran--her favorite sensation. The disadvantages of such a fast pace would be that the dogs would tire out sooner, but at the moment Master didn't seem to mind. Snow fell lightly on the female Alaskan Husky's pelt as she ran.

Team 2
Jakson watched as the other team took off and they followed. He felt the most strain in the take-off being a wheeler. The white and gray sibarian husky quickly fell into a steady lope that moved them easily through the snow as he followed Yuki.

Team One: White Fang

White Fang began to further slow down as the sled approached where Master wished to camp. It was beginning to grow dim. Days were short here in the Yukon. His compact paws, adapted to the winter climate, worked as snowshoes. At camp, the team would receive their rations of sun-dried salmon, be set free to roam around the clearing, and sleep for the night.


Team Two: Snowflake

Snowflake began to slow down slightly, at the same steady lope as Jakson. Her white pelt blended perfectly with the snow and ice.

Yuki stopped for a while, because the master told them to. The master gave another human some letters and carried on. Yuki started to run again.
