-Subzero- A Sled Dog Roleplay

Hi, it's Starnight, back with another dog roleplay! This time, it's a sled dog roleplay, pretty much the opposite of the stray dog roleplay.

The wilderness; vast, unforgiving, and below freezing. Snow is everywhere, and one of the best ways for man to transport here is by dogsledding. This roleplay takes place in the Yukon, in the year of 1897. But life isn't easy for neither humans nor dogs. Team 1 consists of an assortment of dogs bought by people on the whim who need dogs for the sled team and are on their way to the Klondike to get rich. These dogs are constantly fighting and stealing each other's food and live by the law of club and fang. However, the dogs from Team 2 have either been raised together or were carefully trained to leave in peace with each other. They work as the mailing/trading system. This team is loyal to each other and to their owners. Temperates are frigid during the night. Whichever team you are part of, life in the Arctic is a struggle to survive.

Like the stray dog rp, this roleplay is highly realistic and semi-literate. Dog sled Team 1 is inspired by Jack London's book, "The Call of the Wild". Team 2 is inspired by the movie, "Eight Below". In case you didn't read or watch either of these, I will provide an overview of how to act in rp (for example, I will explain the law of club and fang, which only Team 1 follows). Also, if you can't decide which team to be in, you can create 2 characters.

Law of Club: Fear and respect humans, or be beaten with a club.

Law of Fang: Only the strongest survive. If you are knocked off your feet during battle by another dog, you'll be killed.


Team 1

Leader: This dog is respected and feared. He/she bullies the other dogs and keeps them in line. He/she also leads in the front when sledding. Every dog wishes to be and challenges the leader.

White Fang(m)(roleplayed by Starnight)


Wheeler: These dogs are important. They pull near the back of the sled. They are the strongest and most experienced sled dogs. (only two wheelers)



Subordinates: These dogs make up the bulk of the team. They are in the middle or near the front when sledding.

Omegas: These are usually the newbies that aren't used to sled dog life, or weak dogs that are too good-natured. They are often bullied.



Team 2

Leader: This dog is respected, admired, and loved. He/she is in the very front when sledding, and is the main decision maker besides the owner.

Wheelers: These dogs are important. They pull near the back and are the most experienced sled dogs. (only two wheelers, rank for team 2 now closed)

Team 1
Scara was given her pound of fish and she scoffed it down growling at the other dogs. Finishing the red sibarian husky feamle licked her chops and turned away for the team. Finding a semi-sheltered spot at the edge of the clearing she started to dig down into the snow.

Team 2
Once Jakson was released he bounded around the campsite. "We sure did." he barked after Snows comment. The gray husky pounced on her knocking her over with a wagging tail.

(Bah...forget about the names I gave in team one...they'll just be the masters)

Team One: White Fang

After finishing his meal, White Fang did not sleep right away. He stared up at the northern lights, the auroras. His felt primitive blood flow through his veins, and suddenly remembered his wild wolf heritage. Fang sighed, took some of Saki's food that she never ate, and began to dig at a spot in a snow as Scara had done. The resulting snow burrow/hole would be surprisingly snug and warm.

Team Two: Snowflake

Snowflake laughed, as dogs laugh, when Jakson tackled her. "Get off me!" she barked in a friendly way. She pawed the brute off of her and watched as Master examined Yuki's paws. He would soon move on to Jakson and Snowflake, the the respected leader came first.

Yuki smiled. "Yeah. We made good time."she said. Yuki watched as the master examine her paws and pads. As soon as he rubbed a bit of moisture on her pads, he went over to Snowflake.

Team 1
Finishing her snow hole Scara curled up. Her paws tingled as she licked them gently to ease the slight pain in them form the rough ground. Laying her red head on her white paws the husky was soon fast asleep.

Team 2
Jakson watched as his owners rub some moisture onto Yuki and Snowflakes paws. He came towards him and he rolled on his back with his paws in the air for the same treatment. The humans laughed at him as his tounge flopped out of his mouth while they worked on his paws. When they finished he started to walk away as the rest of the teams paws were looked at. "Night all." he barked. As he wasnt looking where he was going the gray husky fell into Snowflakes snow hole and landed with a thud on her. "Sorry." he said with his nose touching hers.

~The Next Day~

Team One: White Fang

At the sound of the dog driver's calls, White Fang was summoned. He burst out from his snow hole, shaking the white crystals off his coat. He headed towards François with an easy lope, then waited impatiently for the others.

Team Two: Snowflake

The Alaskan husky groggily shook snow off her pelt as she emerged from her slumber. The cold bit through her fur, waking her up quickly. She looked down at her paws upon seeing Jakson. "Erm...Morning." She woofed softly to him. The white dog turned to Yuki and nodded her greeting.

Team 1
Scara burst out form under the snow as she heard François call out to the team. She skidded to a halt beside White Fang and shook of the snow that lay on her red coat. "Morning." she barked polietly.

Team 2
Jakson pushed through the snow and cleared it off his pelt. He padded over to Snowflake and smiled. "Good Morning." he barked before heading over to Yuki. Reaching his leader the gray and white husky jumped onto her knocking her down while he grinned. "Morning oh fearless leader." he said from on top of her.

Team 1
Scara stepped into her harness without any trouble. Hearing Fangs growl she lowered herself slightly wondering if she had done something wrong.

Team 2
Jakson bowled Snow over as her crashed into her side sending the rolling in the snow. Sitting up he laughed with the humans. "Sorry." he said shaking out his pelt and moving into his position at the front of the sled.

"Good morning."she said as she woke up. Yuki looked to Jakson and Snowflake. "Go ahead and warm up."she smiled.

"Good morning to you too."she said to Simon. Yuki was harnessed on again. And again, as soon as the master gave the word, she started running.
